Under the guidance of senior media management, the Media Strategy Supervisor is accountable for the supervision and management of media plans, projects and programs for multiple designated clients, as well as the supervision of designated media personnel. This position will focus on developing the most innovative and audience-driven media plans across all media and publishing platforms, and presenting the recommended media plans and accompanying rationale to Client Partnerships and/or the client. This position interacts with all agency departments, clients and media partners.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Essential Functions
- The Media Strategy Supervisor brings an established level of forward-thinking and innovation to media plan development, and ensures plans deliver against the client KPIs and overall audience channel strategy.
- Reports to and collaborates with Associate Media Director as strategic media lead on client business to deliver results-oriented outcomes.
- Depending on client assignment, employee is expected to be proficient across all media, including digital, social and traditional, demonstrating advanced knowledge in all areas.
- Supervises planning process including research, strategy, evaluations and recommendations of media vehicles and tactics, through plan development, presentation, execution and follow-up.
- Manages media team on reporting, optimization (creative and ad placement), analysis/ROI and budget stewardship of all plans, including follow-up presentations.
- Leads media team integration and collaboration with client and internal teams, working with Client Partnerships, Strategy & Insights, Creative, PR, Channel and Content on development of strategic marketing plans to ensure correct media direction.
- Meets with clients on strategic issues; runs client media meetings as needed to present media plans and oversee all media efforts; ensures all follow-up correspondence.
- Leads and motivates media strategy team, assigns workloads and promotes teamwork.
- Leads partner negotiations of rates, positioning and added value opportunities to increase and expand media value and visibility.
- Reviews and evaluates media proposals as submitted, developing POVs as needed.
- Contributes to professional development of assigned staff, working with AMSD and/or Media Strategy Director to identify areas of improvement and foster professional development through training, mentoring, and recommending educational opportunities. This includes development of goals, managing status meetings, and providing ongoing evaluations and annual reviews.
- Depending on the client assignment(s), role may specialize in broadcast, programmatic or other specialized areas within the organization.
Other Responsibilities
- Understands and abides by the agency’s business practices, core values, and philosophies and understands R&R’s branded process, policies and procedures.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
- Depending on client, office location or business needs, some travel may be required.
- Will obtain/maintain various certifications including, but not limited to, The Trade Desk and Google.
- Contributes to ongoing development and execution of R&R’s media training programs, 101 and 201.
- Participates in agency new business efforts, presentations, and other key department projects with media management as needed.
Expectations
- Completes R&R’s 201 media training program within first year of employment; encouraged to audit R&R’s media 101 classes as necessary.
- Establish and manage strong relationships with internal teams, clients and media partners.
- Stays on the forefront of digital trends and looks for opportunity within marketplace, bringing forward proactive ideas and solutions; exhibits desire for continued education including industry trends, market conditions and research.
- Has expert understanding of client business verticals, objectives and strategies.
- Maintains accurate daily time sheets.
- Maintains an appropriate appearance and demeanor with clients and in other professional environments.
- Must be conscientious and self-motivated.
- Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in advertising or related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in media planning and buying across all media preferred, including traditional and digital media.
- Experience and familiarity with planning and/or buying media including: traditional media channels, Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads (search, YouTube, Google Display Network, Discovery), Programmatic DSPs like The Trade Desk or other social platforms Twitter, Snapchat and TikTok.
- Experience and familiarity with agency research tools including: Advantage and Strata/Freewheel, Google Analytics, Google Campaign Manager (formerly Doubleclick) ad server, Scarborough research via Prime Lingo platform, GWI research, Kantar competitive research, etc.
- Strong and effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, and demonstrated leadership ability.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers and filing cabinets.
